Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 07, 2011 6:02 pm why cant we get an honest answer from our builder.we have a handover date of june 6,theres still all the tiling to do internal prep and paint then all the fixout items sinks watertank baths showers etc etc.the promise us it will be finished,we were told that the painters would be finished this week[they havent even started.the tiler is supposed to start monday,i was over the house this morning and he was there taking tiles from our house to use on another and he informed me he aint due to go in and start till a fortnight and theres at least 6 days work for him. very frustrating as i have asked for a site meeting monday to discuss a few things but they dont want to meet, all they say is not to worry it will be done Re: why do builders lie 3May 07, 2011 6:24 pm as you say very frustrating.what really annoys us is the company are building 5 homes on the development, ours is the only high set and was the 1st to start.they have tradies working on all the lowsets which were started months after ours and ours just sits there untouched.in 3 weeks theyve managed to fit 4 sinks. and deliver the missing doors but delivered the wrong ones so still waiting. Re: why do builders lie 6May 08, 2011 9:49 am darrell81 yes i know, after that though what can i do Do you have a copy of your contract? Does it state in there a penalty rate if the builder goes over the contract period? Re: why do builders lie 7May 08, 2011 12:57 pm just Erin darrell81 yes i know, after that though what can i do Do you have a copy of your contract? Does it state in there a penalty rate if the builder goes over the contract period? yes its a massive $15 a day on a happier note i just got back from the site and the painters are there working on the other property Re: why do builders lie 8May 09, 2011 9:00 am I feel your pain. The amount of times my CSO or SS has said, "The plaster / painter / plumber is booked in for Monday", and they don't show up. 3 weeks later, the work still isn't done. I would much prefer my builder to say, sorry, the trade is booked out for 3 weeks, they are booked in then. Atleast you know what to expect. Or is it the tradies just not turning up? I don't understand how tradies think its appropriate not to keep appointments, and not inform you. The amount of times I have had a tradie booked in, and they show up 6 hours late, or the next day, or not at all. If I did that, I would be out of a job in about 15 minutes flat! Milesy Re: why do builders lie 9May 09, 2011 9:30 am Your not alone Darrell, I think most of us on H1 can relate to what your going through! We were given a handover date, so we gave our 4 weeks notice for the rental! With only 1 week to go, so much still hadn't been done ( it seemed like there was still 4 weeks worth of work to be done) miraculously in that last week so much was done to try and get the house finished However we did end up moving into an unfinished home and had tradies coming to finish things whilst we were living in it!! Re: why do builders lie 10May 12, 2011 8:08 pm THEY ARE ALL LYING-they suck you in to get you signing a contract and then they treat you terrible! Our building contract stated the completion date as October 22. Now it is May and we are still waiting for the final walk-thru. nearly 7 months delay-giving us mere 150 $ a week... AHHH!grrrr! Re: why do builders lie 11May 13, 2011 9:11 pm Hi everyone, It seems we are all in the same boat , builders telling us what we want to hear, & doing something else. We were told it would take a year from the initial deposit to handover, next month will be a year & all we have is a frame , very annoying , then there's the 6-8 weeks delay between each stage where you're supposed to just sit back & watch the grass grow while paying rent & a mortgage...& to top all that off, emails & phone calls are not returned....How can this be allowed to go on, I'll never know....we are just so upset with the whole thing...whatever happened to honesty in this world? He has arranged for certain trades to come at certain dates and times and if they do a no show then there are delays, I don't take it as he is "******" to me, I take it as part and parcel of the building process, the need to rely on people who are notoriously not reliable! Re: why do some builders lie 15May 16, 2011 11:36 am some builders do that to get more deals, they give promises and that.. That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17895 Hi All, I just wanted to close this topic out with an update. So we ended up agreeing to a number with the insurance company, and after an extensive amount of hand… 8 23405 A Sabco spin mop, minimal moisture, not very regularly.
