G'day everyone. First time poster, long time lurker.
I'm in the process of getting a building permit, but my Council (Victoria) always seems to request extra information or documentation. In their latest letter was this request:
"Please provide a typical sectional detail of the flashing and weep holes to be constructed above the windows and doors."
This is a brick veneer house, and I take it they simply want a photocopy of a page from some standards manual, but I don't have the manual, and don't know where to start looking. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or provide the drawing they're asking for?
Thanks in advance,

I would assume they want a section detail of your actual proposed building showing the flashing and weepholes you will be putting. I doubt your building surveyor needs a photocopy of a standard, he probably knows them backwards and forwards.
If you are getting extra requests your drawings may not be showing all the details needed.
Did you get your drawings done by a draftsman or have you done them yourself?

Thanks for your reply. In my previous letter, I sent them the cheque, as requested, for the building permit (which they have already cashed) and I believed I had already given them everything they wanted. Instead of getting the building permit in the mail, out of the blue I got a letter asking for another drawing.
All drawings were done by a draftsman, and have been in the possession of the council for quite some time, so I don't know why they suddenly need yet another drawing. When I told the builder, he used the term "obstructive."
All the best,

Knowing councils they probably only just got around to looking at your application. Speedy gonzales they are not
I would have thought flashing and weepholes would have been on the plans, although weepholes above windows / doors sounds unusual, I thought they were usually down the bottom

Sounds like the council we are going through... quick to take your money but slow with everything else! Sorry I can't offer any help - just Good Luck & I hope it gets sorted quickly (if possible!! Our planning permit has been with our council since late January & still no approval!!)

I would talk to them and ask them why, then I recommend getting an independent building inspector to check for that and other issues.
