Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 04, 2011 11:52 pm Hi All I'm after anyones advise or experience with regards to this. We are in the process of preparing to demolish our old house, re-scrape the block (side of a hill) and then build new - using the hill in a much more effective way. We've discovered the current sewerage connection is not to the street but rather to a pipe that runs across our side neighbours property. The problem is that in looking at the levels, after we cut and shape the block our new basement slab level will be below the current level of the connection. In talking with a council plumbing inspector his advise was contact Urban Utilities, and have a design and build done to provide a new connection to street (cap off the current connection via the neighbours) - as he said this gives the best result - good fall (our block rises up from the street level), avoids the neighbours, flexible with the new build etc (makes sense). What I am concerned about is understanding what I might be in for in doing this. The distance from the base of our block to the sewerage main is 12M (not that far) but Urban utilities would need to dig the road there - and there would be fees. I've tried to obtain some pricing guidance from them and council but no one will give any indication of ball park costs. Has anyone experienced this? ideas of what it cost? (no one will tell me, other than Qld Urban Utilities that suggest to request a design quote, pay for the design, have a design done, then at that point they'll also quote for the connection work itself - all taking about 3-4 weeks from design quote request to design and quote for new sewerage connect build. (we are wanting to sign with our builder now'ish - but this snag has been on pause). Ta for any input, advise or shared experiences. Mark Re: Changing Sewerage Connection (Brisbane) 2May 05, 2011 8:26 pm Mark, There may be some private contractors who can do the work, other than the council. I'm in Brisbane and had to , on occassions vary finished levels of existing manholes (all comes under the same jurisdiction) Although I've just paid the price and had council do it, it might be worth investigating with your builders plumber. 3 48354 Hi all I'm currently building a duplex in Sydney and we need to do a new water connection to the second unit. The water main is on the other side of the road so we need… 0 4265 How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11915 |
