Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 01, 2011 2:30 pm Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm just wanting some advice on colour selection. We are building a home in a federation style. It has red bricks, with white mortar. The roof is going to be grey, probably woodland grey and white window frames and gables at the front are going to be white also. The problem I'm having is, I want the garage door (at the front of the house) to be white, and the fascia and veranda posts to be white also, the only colour i can see that resembles white in colourbond is surfmist. I have seen photo's of surfmist and sometimes it does look white and other times it looks silvery grey or creamy. Does anyone have experiences or photo's,or recomendations on what to use to achieve the look I'm after, Any help would be much appreciated, this is doing my head in. Also does anyone know if you can powdercoat gutters and fascia, and if so how much extra it costs, Cheers Re: Advice please, building a federation style house 2May 01, 2011 4:08 pm Hi and welcome! Don't stress too much, the Surfmist will come up looking white enough, especially against your other colours. I know Haywgl (a member here) has white windows and Surfmist fascia and it looks pretty much the same when you see her facade. Sorry, I couldn't find a pic as I believe her build thread has been deleted. There's a house near me with Surfmist fascia and guttering and garage door and white window frames.... all looks fantastic and the Surfmist doesn't look grey at all on a bigger scale. To answer your other question, we upgraded our fascia and guttering from the metal (zincalume) to the colourbond colour and it cost around $1800 for a single storey 40sq. Worth every penny as it would cost more than that to get them repainted after a few years. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
