I'm looking to transfer the title under my name to my child's. After extensive googling, I'm under the impression all we need is... - the T1 transfer of land form (http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/CA256F310024B ... 1+form.pdf) - a valuation notice (does anyone know where I can get one? Does the valuation on the my latest rates notice suffice?) - Payment of stamp duty + transfer fees. Have I left out anything? If so, please let me know! Re: Transfer of land VIC... 2Apr 24, 2011 10:51 am Hi, Last year I sold my half of the house my brother and I had built together, to his wife. We had to complete the transfer of land, get a valuation and they then had to pay stamp duty and fees (stamp duty was on half of the value of the home). You need to get a valuation from a real estate agent. Just ring a real estate agent to let them know you are thinking of selling and ask for a written valuation. I think the stamp duty costs was based on the real estate valuation. After looking through the forms and guides some more, I'm questioning if I need to fill in a consideration in the first place... If anyone out there has transferred their land to their child's, please let me know! Re: Transfer of land VIC... 4Apr 27, 2011 6:50 pm This may be a bit out of date, as it's a while since I worked with land titles. But for what it's worth, it used to be the case that if there's no consideration (payment) being made, then you write "natural love and affection". (I know.... how cute. ) OK, I just Googled and found this on the DSE's website: http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/CA256F310024B628/0/84F2CB460E5A1A72CA25760900064FA2/$File/Your+guide+to+Transfer+of+Land+T1.pdf You'll still need a valuation for stamp duty purposes, and for any future potential capital gains issues. You'd be well advised to ring the Titles Office (03 8636 2010) and have a chat to them - they should be able to guide you to make sure you get everything right.
