We havent even started the cornice debate, but would agree with square set, its very in and love the way it sets up a room. I really need guidance with colours at the moment. This is what we have so far Roof, gutters, fascia and windows - woodland grey Garage door - DUNE Render and downpipes - Dune or thinking 3/4 Dune for the render Ive bought 7 sample pots and its driving me nuts Feature wall at front door entrance BORAL Aspen fieldstone Main front door seaboard william russell door Has any one used Dune as a RENDER colour? feedback / thoughts on what we have chosen so far? I'm probably posting in the wrong spot?? thanks Patris Re: what cornice style did you choose? 42Jun 11, 2012 10:46 pm Hi patris, welcome to H1 For more specific help With colours there are a couple of interior designers that post on the home decorating threads or otherwise in building a new house. In Regards to your render, we originally choose dune as a render colour to match our garage door, we have monument windows, fascia, gutter etc. I had help from an interior decorator and she actually suggested Dulux pale earth instead of dune, although it looks very similar, she said it was a bit softer and was better outside, in the end I saw both dune and pale earth outside and felt they were to light for me, so asked on the home decorating thread and Michelle ( an interior designer ) suggested Saudi sand, which I loved, I haven't used it yet, still waiting for them to paint outside, but hoping it will be shortly. Hope that helps, have fun ![]() Re: what cornice style did you choose? 43Jun 12, 2012 9:18 am I just went with stock, standard, whatever the base category 1 Metricoin option is - not because I'm cheap, but because I don't want my house to look like it was built in the 40s. I felt like it was modern yet traditional at the same time. Transitional I suppose. Unfortunately there was no room in budget left, and I'm stuck with the boring old Cove. I absolutely love the old cornices, they are so ornate and decorative. I dont want to pay the extra because I dont spend a great deal of time looking at my cornices now, and I've never gone into someone elses house and thought 'wow, the cornice just ruins the whole place'. I dont think its that big of a deal and would rather spend the money upgrading useful things like lighting or appliances. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. No ours is not an actual cornice but a true shadowline, so it is a metal strip that the plasterboard is connected to.
