Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 27, 2011 8:54 pm Hi all, before i look up my contract can anyone tell me if internal paint is covered by builders warranty .The wall paint in my ensuite is peeling on every wall i have a exhaust fan since we moved in . House is 4 years old. Can remember being told to use fan as i sure the builder will say i told you to. Thanks Dean Re: New home paint warranty 2Mar 28, 2011 9:22 am I thought excess moisture only meant you might get mould?
I doubt that paint would peel from moisture. Mt last bathroom used to cop a beating of steam/moisture and it never peeled. Edit: Unless the walls were damp when painted, but I would think you would see peeling before 4 years if that were the case. Re: New home paint warranty 3Mar 28, 2011 9:31 am If they use the wrong kind of paint then in a bathroom it can peel. I don't know what is the right or wrong kind, but at my last rental place, even with the fan on over the shower the paint was peeling. I remember that when my home was handed over I received a sheet of paper from Haymes which outlined what they would cover (of course I can't remember what that was though - sorry!) I agree with everyone else; peeling paint sounds like a painting defect more than a moisture problem. Good luck Re: New home paint warranty 6Mar 28, 2011 12:32 pm Hi, As suggested above I think you will need to confirm with the paint manufacturer. Looking at the building standards and tolerances, the minimum durability for internal painting is 36 months. http://www.buildingcommission.com.au/resources/documents/S+T_GUIDE_07.pdf Good luck, Michelle House - Lockup completed 23rd December 2011 - Painters are in!!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37261&start=0&hilit=Blaxland We built in 2013 and painted internally with the Taubmans colour 'Stonebridge - New Housing'.
