Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 10, 2011 3:10 pm Hi everyone, my first topic so please be nice Our building has just started and the fun has already begun. We noticed the plumber has used the flexible PE-X pipe (Rehau brand) and not copper as per our specification. The PE-X looks like it is good but my concern is that it will be under our Altis termite reticulation system. Does anyone here have any experience with PE-X pipe and termite poison? Is there a recommended installation procedure? Is it safe for our water? The pipe is layed straight in the ground, not in conduit so my other concern is damage when digging. Is it normal to place the pipe in conduit? Cheers Andrew Re: Plumbing in PEX Piping & Termite Treatment 2Mar 21, 2011 5:19 pm If copper is on your spec, and you don't have copper, I'd call an immediate halt to the building and get copper pipes installed. You would of paid (muchly) extra (either directly or indirectly) for the copper, and myself, I wouldn't even consider a "price adjustment", I'd make 'em re-do it, IN COPPER !! Just my $0.02 P_D . I was told the copper will be a slightly smaller diameter (20mm), the PEX was 25mm. Hopefully the pressure drop is negligible. I am having a bit a hard time at the moment trying to get the builder to stick to the spec. I also had to insist they pond the slab. In the end I did it myself and could only get it done for 3 days before the plumbers came and put their sand on top of it.. Yes, neither is termite damage that is not covered by your house insurance. 3 6724 4 2153 Hi all, I am seeking some perspective on my position, I have encountered termite damage, old damage and some active termites in flooring Thenkfully then dont seem to have… 0 1310 |
