House removal in Victoria

Has anyone had their old house removed in Victoria to build a new one? Which company did you use? How did it all go? Thanks.

Hi mek,

My boss just went through that, and in the end he dozed the house. No one wanted it for free (plus removal costs).

Thanks Adrian. We've had an offer for our house, not a lot of money (and half would go for cleaning the site after they took it) but still better than paying someone else to bulldozer it, we thought.
If anyone else has any experiences can you please share. Thanks.

Wow, getting money for the old house!!
I'm having to pay 20K to have an old beachhouse removed with only a few odds and ends to flog off beforehand. Unfortunately old asbestos ridden houses aren't cheap to deal with.

Well we've had an offer of $8,000 for the house, 3 brm, about 11 sq, brick, built in 1960s. There's a few companies offering this, of course on the proviso that they find a buyer for it.

Will they take it away for free if they can salvage all the material?

If so, and you can't find a buyer soon, then take it!

No point holding up your project as it will only get more expensive to build as time goes on.

If the company willing to pay for the house doesn't find a buyer then our builder is happy to get us somebody to give us a quote for demolishing/salvaging.
We plan to sign the contract to build as soon as we get final plans settled and a water-tight (I hope) quote and plan to be out of our old house in about a month. I hope.

Happy to say house removal worked, our house has been bought and is going somewhere near Bendigo in the next two weeks. We're moving out tomorrow!! Then the fun part starts (building a new house).
