Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 27, 2011 4:13 pm Hi everyone, I have a dilemma that I was hoping people on this forum could help me with. I'm currently renovating a 3 bedroom house (it will be an investment property), and it has come to that scary time in which I need to pick the external colours (gutters, front verandah trims, carport, rendered walls, shed, window and door trims, front door). The house and shed both have terrocatta roofs (reddish colour), and the bricks are blonde. I'm reluctant to paint the house an orangy/reddish colour to match the roof and bricks, but then other colour schemes might look out of place. Someone has suggested to paint the gutters woodland grey (a colourbond colour), and the rendered walls (the the new extension next to the back deck) a dark blue, the front door black, and the the trims antique white (which is the colour I've gone for inside the house). However, I have no idea what this would look like. Any help with colour schemes would be greatly appreciated. Also, the front verandah will look slightly different soon as I am building it timber frames, and the roof still needs cleaning, so it will look redder once finished. I have attached a link to the pictures of the house, rendered walls and shed here : http://s1191.photobucket.com/albums/z47 ... =slideshow Thanks for you help! Lisa Re: Advice needed: Picking external colours 2Feb 27, 2011 6:24 pm I would keep the render light. Evening haze, paperbark or similar. I would also do something about the concrete entrance and ditch the rusty iron railing. It makes the place look dated along with the old shed. Re: Advice needed: Picking external colours 3Feb 28, 2011 11:18 am Thanks for your reply d@n. I had a look at evening haze and it looked good. Although still not sure what to do with the rendered wall and shed colour. Almost tempted to call in a colour consultant. Too many colours - too many choices!!! Arrrrh! Yep agree - the entrance and shed date the place. I will be replacing the verandah with timber, replacing the shed front door, and repainting. Any more colour suggestions welcome...
