Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 11, 2011 7:31 pm Hi all, I have been lurking around this site for almost 12 months and have enjoyed reading several posts and looking at pics. Now it's my turn to post. We have been in our house for almost 7 months, since before pre-handover we have made our builder aware of a few things that we were not happy with, we have since had our 3 month maintanence check and are still not happy. We are emailing our builder who has little (if any) intention of assisting us with our concerns and we learn that email is far better that phone or personal conversations because at least we have documentation of our communication. I am now seeking assistance and advice as to how we can go about taking things further. We reside in NSW so I have begun writting a letter to the Department of Fair Trade but I am not really sure if this is where I should be going. I am not sure if we need to get an independant building inspector in or what path to take to find out what does and doesn't need to be fixed. Any assistance, direction as to what the next step for this process would be greatly appreciated. Re: Not happy with our builder, what's the next step? 2Feb 11, 2011 7:41 pm First of all, Welcome! Secondly, it sounds like you have things in writing - documenting everything will be very important for you. If the builder is not replying to you then I would be seeking legal advice. It might also be advisable to seek out a builder inspector to get the opinion of a third party in regards to the issues you are having.
