Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 06, 2011 6:25 pm Hi there all We've recently bought a 3 x 3 meter shed but can't decide on what sort of base it should sit on and what's easiest and cheapest. We realise there are three options. ie concrete base, concrete paver base or wooden base on concrete stumps. Any one with thoughts, suggestions and ideas of each of these would be appreciated. Also, what size timber would you require for a wooden base frame? Many thanks in advance for your help. Flew Re: Shed Base 3Feb 06, 2011 8:14 pm We did a concrete slab for our 6x4. It was pricey. Next time I will do concrete slabs. I would use concrete pavers next time. Mainly because we don't have heavy traffic on the conrete slab. I'm using timber pallets for the base. It's a bit of messing around pulling the pallets apart but I got my pallets for free so it's worth it. Re: Shed Base 8Feb 07, 2011 6:42 pm Put a 3x3 shed in myself and mixed the concrete slab myself. make Slab 100mm larger than shed size, so 3100x3100mm. 100mm thick with mesh. want hard to do myself but best with 2 or more people because of mixing and laying. All in one days labour. Re: Shed Base 10Mar 21, 2011 6:34 pm Hi Just an update. We condered all the options and were given a good quote of $800 for a concrete base from a very nice guy called Shannon in Doreen and considered concrete pavers. In the end though we decided on an even cheaper option and that is to build a wooden frame and cover it in ply which we will paint in a waterproof paint. Hope this is a good choice. Thanks for all your replys Flew Re: Shed Base 12Mar 22, 2011 7:51 pm IF you are doing it (properly) and using a concrete slab why not form a 25mm recess around the edge to stop the rain running under the walls. This also saves on putting silicone everywhere. Just make sure you get the slab dead square so the shed fits.
