Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 01, 2011 7:37 pm Hi Everyone, Just noticed today while peeping through the windows that the stairs were stained but only partial. I am having carpet runner in the middle of the stairs and therefore I think they have decided to not stain the full stairs (ie not staining areas in the middle where the carpets are going). My contract and colours clearly mention that the treads, risers and stingers are to be full polished. Can someone shed some light if this is how its supposed to be or should they be staining the whole stairs before running the carpet in the middle?? I am just concerned coz my carpets are going in tomorrow and therefore they could just cover it up without doing anything. Advise and suggestions are welcome. Thanks Stairs stain partial or full?? 2Feb 01, 2011 7:49 pm IMO they should be fully stained as raw timber is subject to moisture therefore may expand effecting the integrity of the structure. It's not like u can clean under the carpet I believe staining would be your only protection unless they use some kind of moisture barrier, but if it's on the contract it can't hurt to get them to fulfill their obligation.
