Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 24, 2011 3:32 pm I recently visited some display homes and noticed that where the built in robes went all the way to the ceiling (sliding doors) - there was a square set finish. However, the homes which had cornices, the sliding doors went up to 2.4m high and then above was a little bulkhead, which had a cornice over it just like in rest of the room. Do your built-ins go all the way to the ceiling? What do your cornices in that area look like? Re: What does "above your built-in robe" look like? 2Jan 24, 2011 3:33 pm I was just looking at stegosaurus's thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31715&hilit=robe&start=400 And noticed that his/her cornices stop above the built-in. Is this how most people's built-ins look like? Re: What does "above your built-in robe" look like? 3Jan 24, 2011 5:10 pm My wardrobe doors are the same height and style as all of my internal doors, as I like consistancy! I don't like sliders* (too noisy if kids are sleeping) and I really don't like mirrored doors* (thinking of the kids finger prints...it's bad enough in their bathroom with full wall mirror!). I also like to be able to open both doors at once to view the WHOLE cupboard, instead of swapping from side to side which drives me up the wall!!! Lived with it in our temp accom whilst building and was very greatful I chose hinged doors instead of sliding! * Personal opinion only! Anyway, above my doors are wall and cornice, as the wardrobes are 'built-in'. Son's room (excuse the warped look, taken on wide angle to fit it in!) Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: What does "above your built-in robe" look like? 9Jan 25, 2011 4:02 pm I dont think ours are like that - there is not wall above the robe as in Stormy's pic - the robe goes all the way to the ceiling and their is just a little strip thing that covers the tracks (sliding door) Our ceilings are 2.7m high so this can be done to any height, not just standard 2.4 m. This way, ALL of your questions will be able to be seen in the one thread You could call your thread “The blueblueblue Build” Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: What does "above your built-in robe" look like? 11Jan 26, 2011 12:42 pm On the other hand, one of the other moderators, I think it was Fu - did have a thread telling people to post in relevant sections, not to just put everything in one building thread where the experts in that area may not see it. However, I agree it would be handy for BBB to post some more details/floor plan of his/her build so some of these questions can be put into context. Re: What does "above your built-in robe" look like? 12Jan 26, 2011 12:54 pm I look forward to seeing blueblueblue's building thread- It clearly looks like a lot of thought is going into the build! Having said that I LOVE blueblueblue's questions and would hate to see them stop and have a building thread only! I have found them really interesting reading and have enjoyed being able to contribute to a few them. If you are someone new to the forum looking for an answer to a specific question then by using the search engine many of these threads come up and you get loads of varied information and different styles/ tastes/ opinions on your specific question without having to wade through people's building threads trying to find the info! (I think if it is a kitchen related question it is best asked in the 'kitchen area' of the forum and so forth- but I think the threads are great! ) Keep the questions coming blueblueblue. I LOVE 'em! Using the search function. What a good idea! Posting a new question without bothering to check if it's already been asked can become irritating. Members get fed up with answering the same questions over and over.
