Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 10, 2011 12:13 pm Hi all. We are renovating our house this year and are considering plastering the garage. There's a door from the garage into the house and I've noticed on the house plans that door is specifically marked as being fire proof. Does that mean we need to use fire proof plaster? What is the cost of a fireproof plastering job versus a regular plastering job (garage is about 16 sqm)? Thanks. Is it brick you are plastering? Are you in an multi unit complex? Is the Garage on the Boundary? Generally you only need fireproofing within 900mm of the boundary. If it is brick it will have the necessary fire rating and the plastering over the top is not required to be anything special. The garage is brick and is about 2 meters from the boundary so it would seem we do not need any specific fireproofing. I'll take it up further with our builder when we get one! Thanks again.
