Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 08, 2011 10:17 am We bought this house 3 years ago and have slowly been doing a bit of work on it. It was built in 1974 so it has the mission brown roof, windows, garage door etc with a beige brick. So far we have replaced the fence, removed and redid the gardens, put a deck out the front, removed the brown decorative shutters.
I'm at the point now where I'm sick of the brown and have started painting the windows (just undercoated) but am unsure about what colour to go. Our house is 2 streets from the beach so I was hoping to eventually have a beachy style house (some extensions may be required such as bringing the garage forward to square up the house). Can anyone help with a colour scheme, we will be painting the windows, replacing the garage door and redoing the roof (in that order). Thanks. Re: General colour scheme help for 1974 house 2Jan 08, 2011 10:45 am can you post some pictures to give everyone some idea of what your house currently looks like. Seeing the garden, new fencing etc colours will help. There are many new houses in the beachside suburbs around us that use these together. I think with your light bricks this sort of a colour scheme would look fresh, cool and modern. It's going to look great once you've finished your reno's - bringing the garage forward would give you a beautiful courtyard entry. Re: General colour scheme help for 1974 house 7Jan 09, 2011 11:12 am I'm renovating - building a small extension at the back of the late Edwardian house. This is the first stage. Second stage of the renovation will be to replace roof on… 0 1085 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14099 welcome to learning that colours vary in different lighting conditions. 1 2908 |
