We just did it with conditions on these things. That way we had an out (although would lose our $1k deposit). We thought it was a good idea for us to lock in a price of a promo house. It will depend on your situation and whether you are going to save any money on your house by signing now. We signed our in Feb '10 & it was valid to 30 June, land reg was delayed so builder took opportunity to inform us that to extend contract to 30 Dec they would accept an additional $2000 - was supposed to be more but they felt kind & offered us a discount Got a life, just can't find it!
