Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Can you recommend a handheld vacumme? 21May 25, 2017 1:00 pm I got one of the Dyson stick vacs when they first came out and it is still going strong. I do leave it on charge permanently and it doesn't seem to have affected the battery life. It's perfect for doing the quick crumb clean after meals and for whipping around for the quick fix if visitors are coming. We clean it regularly and it hasn't given us any trouble. My eldest child is now big enough to run it around and help out Re: Can you recommend a handheld vacumme? 22May 30, 2017 9:54 am I see on TV the other day that Vax now has a Dyson look-alike. Not sure of the price difference but would be interested to see the 2 compared. I will be investing in one in the new house (sometime next year) as our 12 year old has the house chore to vacuum through twice a week and in her haste and hatred she isn't the most careful dragging the vacuum cleaner around with her. At least the stick vacs don't have cords and a separate motor unit to have to maneuver. Worked fine, yes a bit expensive for what it's worth, but did its job as a handheld well. After 2 years it died on me. So I bought a newer model. Looked similar in size and shape, but was obviously an upgrade in model - bit lighter and bit shinier. But having bought it, found out that all the old accessories such as the charger, the floor stick, the tools etc do not fit the new model - they've purposely made them slightly different shaped so as not to be compatible. What a waste and how environmentally irresponsible!
