We have horse hair plaster walls throughout our new place and need to repair several cracks, screw holes and larger movement cracks/holes. I'm after some tips as to how I prepare for plastering and painting, as there are many layers of paint flaking paint around the hoes and cracks. Do I need to strip all of the walls entirely of old paint in order to skim coat? Or do I just scrape out the flakes till I hit what seems to be sound paint and skim over till smooth? I'm a fussy tradie - although have little experience with reno/building work. I want to achieve a seamless finish. Your help would be appreciated!
