Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 06, 2010 12:09 pm I'm in need of some software to create a home budget. What do you use to create a budget? Excel? Any others? I've never really used excel and find it to be a pain in the butt. Are there any good home budget programs around? Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: What home budget software do you use? 5Dec 08, 2010 4:40 pm I use excel too. It shows what comes in and what goes out each pay - I have all my bills/income down the left column and then to the right I then have fortnightly date columns with the payments. I'm about to move to monthly pay so I'm about to change it all to accommodate that. 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' I have our income and expenses charted up so that we have a cash balance forecast up to 3 months in advance at any one time. I just update it weekly to include incidentals. Very handy, and I highly recommend it. When we are considering impulse purchases it is really useful to be able to look a couple of months in advance and make sure we aren't leaving ourselves short. Or it is easy enough to make your own. Also don't need to buy Excel if you don't have it. Works may be sufficient or try the Open Office suite - http://www.openoffice.org/ (150 Mb). The "Calc" function should open most simple spreadsheets written in Excel. Works similar to Excel with a few differences. Re: What home budget software do you use? 8Dec 10, 2010 5:29 pm I spent about 2 years trying almost every type of budget software on the net and in the end nothing was as simple and easy to manage as an Excel spreadsheet. I have been running a very successful home budget on excel now for 2 years. Re: What home budget software do you use? 9Dec 11, 2010 7:26 am I have a home budget software called - Home Budget. Is really good if your not familar with excel. All you have to do is input the data and it will do the rest for you. Will show you on either a weekly, monthly, yearly profit/loss for your home expenses at a click of a button. Cost less than $50. You can buy online - Zoom Software or go to Harvey Norman etc and you will find it also. Is definately worth the $50. So easy my 7 year old could use it I'm familiar with and use excel often, but unless your uptodate with how to get the formulas correct and know even just a little about it, it can be a persons nightmare Try Home Budget - you wont be disappointed Re: What home budget software do you use? 10Dec 11, 2010 3:00 pm There are quite a few that allow you to import data from your online bank statements, which makes it simpler to keep track of expenses. These offer a free trial: http://www.simplehomesoftware.com/ http://budgetsgetreal.com/ There are heaps of others, some free.
