Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 01, 2010 7:51 pm Hi, We've just purchased a federation house which has old polished boards in most of the living areas. We pulled up carpet in the master bedroom , underneath are unfinished boards with black tar, dirt, and many paint spots. We're going to get this sanded/polished. A small 'walk in robe" adjoins the room - this used to be a bathroom/toilet and has a painted concrete floor which is level with the boards. Ideas that we have for making the WIR match the rest of the room are: laminate, cork tiles, or ceramic timber lookalike tiles. Ideally I'd like to have the smalest increase in floor height so I don't trip over going into the WIR! Laminate may be warmer underfoot though. Any ideas which would be the lowest difference in height? OR any other ideas (room 4 by 4, wir 1.5 by 1.5). Thanks. Re: Laminate or tile floorboard lookalike in WIR to match bo 3Dec 02, 2010 5:30 pm Thanks, have had a look on line - would these be able to stick onto roughened painted concrete? I gather laminate is min 7mm and then whatever material is used to stick it down (??similar to tile). Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't sorted this already you need to caulk this gap. Not sure where you are but if you are in Sydney I can… 5 4351 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1935 |
