I can't see them (just get that blue box with the ? in it - how do I fix that??). Anyway, was keen to see them because we have what i now know to be an merbau deck but we wanted to extend it possibly. I can't view them for some reason Thanks. Can you view any photos in this thread, or any other thread? Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 26Jan 27, 2011 9:52 pm Hi Erin... Yes I can view all the others, just not your three for some reason. It comes up with a blue box with a white ? in it..... I think it means something is blocked????? Not sure how to fix it - but strange I can see the others. Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 27Jan 27, 2011 10:03 pm How Hard Can it Be Hi Erin... I have the same three photos posted in my thread here... can you see them here...??? weird! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35754&start=1100 Oh, it's page 56 incase it doesnt take you straight there. Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 28Jan 27, 2011 10:23 pm yes thanks Erin... I could view them there - right down to the yummy food on the barbie . Great job with the deck - I love how the mat is recessed into it - good thinking. (Our old house in St Kilda used to have that same principle but in the floorboards inside the door - didn't have room outside the door - and I always thought it was really nifty). Thanks for putting the link up so I could see what it looked like. HHCIB Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 29Jan 27, 2011 10:29 pm Still a mystery why you cant view them here? At least you could view them in the other thread. We stole the recess idea from Kek I love that the doormat doesn't get kicked about, it always looks neat. Only problem being, if this doormat wears out, we'll need a replacement the same dimensions Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 30Jan 27, 2011 10:31 pm just Erin We stole the recess idea from Kek I love that the doormat doesn't get kicked about, it always looks neat. Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 31Jan 31, 2011 12:21 pm Merbau does have the problem of leaching when new. Ours did. But we are slack We have been in our place for 7 months and are staining our decking now.... it has still come up nicely. But saying this our decking has a roof. The first few days after it was laid it did have the red run off when it rained, but luckily it didn't stain our house beening painted linea weatherboard. Whenever you puchase deck oil, on the tin is generally states to let the timber weather for 4-6 weeks before applying. Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 33May 02, 2011 11:44 am darrell81 nice looking deck.please dont take this the wrong way but a bit of advise for anyone thinking of doing the same,to avoid the ripped down board in the deck what i do is work out how much has to be cut off in width then lose the amount say over 5-8 boards taking off maybe 5mm on each board.bit more time consuming but well worth the effort for the seamless look. to avoid merbau leaching[the red/brown staining]you need to oil the underside and side of the boards before you lay them to seal the surface. If laying merbau decking, am I supposed to oil the boards before laying? Re: EVERYTHING MERBAU!! 35May 06, 2011 2:21 pm My deck. Loved the building of this. Soooooo many nails. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i447/david242gt/deck.jpg I agree with the staining comments. I used cream paving stones under the front edge of the deck.
