Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 22, 2010 7:46 am Hi, I recently changed some light fittings in my house, I did this by myself and I just read that this is actually illegal and can caused my insurance void. Is it possible to call acertified electrician to inspect and make them a certified electrical work? Has anyone done this before? Thanks. I don't see any reason why you can not pay some one to check and inspect. However they may charge you more to inspected it. I also did the one in the kitchen and installed the kitchen spot lights. So yes, I touched the wiring when I did it. I am not electrician but I understand the basic of wiring. I am just worried if the insurance will void if anything happen to the house. Re: DIY installing lights, can it be certified? 5Nov 22, 2010 9:22 pm Id love to know too. I doubt the insurance company could get out of a payout from... say a storm because this wiring over here has no corresponding compliance certificate. None the less you have technically broken the law by changing the light fitting..... bad boy now go sit in the corner Cheers Cozmo ______________________________ Building a PD Heywood 29 http://fromevetoeternity.blogspot.com/ 0 4972 Hi everyone!
