OR the frosted glass Please vote again (if you don't mind ). What's the point of having clear glass if you are not actually going to see anything out of it? Privacy I suppose... but it does take away from the wow factor of clear glass a bit. Still, I think it'd look better than frosted. So clear with venetians for me then. Re: Please help me choose.. glazed front entry door.. VOTE A 3Nov 21, 2010 4:59 pm We have a door such as option 2 as our laundry door, but with a white venetian. Donuts, it doesn't take anything away as you can fully raise the venetian so the glass is unobscured. Definitely option 2 for me, the best of both worlds. Ed, can I offer a suggestion? When we raise the venetian in our door, we can still see it sit under the top frame part of the door. Not a biggie for a laundry door, but for a front door, it would be nice if the venetian sat up under a lip of the wood so it couldn't be seen when fully raised. Does that make sense? VOTE A 4Nov 21, 2010 5:18 pm Still going with my original vote for frosted glass - I think fancy frosted glass has more Wow than clear anyway plus lets light in without losing privacy - My front door has frosted glass in section of door plus frosted sidelight, and front hallway is not at all dark (faces north so that helps, I guess). I appreciate that you can fully open or raise the venetians completely - but if you do that you are back to clear glass - kind of defeats the purpose to me. For us it gives us options. Our laundry door faces west. We have the venetion fully opened in the morning, then fully closed once the sun moves over and is blasting the door. Also, it is harder to look into a house in the daylight, but at night once the lights go on it is much easier to see in. On a front door, I'd most likely have the venetians fully raised all day, then closed at night once the lights went on. Best of both worlds. VOTE A 6Nov 21, 2010 5:57 pm Yes, I can see the point on a back laundry door, and privacy not an issue there during the day anyway, I mean anyone coming to back or side of my house could see thru large clear sliding doors of family room anyway (when the blinds are open during the day) - but some-one coming up to our house would come to the front door and our front door is visible to passers by - ours is set back 6m from the footpath, so are others on the development and I notice I can partially see in others with clear glass during the day when walking past, and obviously also if I am on their front porch. Annoying??? Not us surely Re: Please help me choose.. glazed front entry door.. VOTE A 7Nov 21, 2010 6:30 pm joles Ed, I hope this discussion is helpful rather than annoying. All fine with me Jo... it helps with the decision... yes I know what you mean about hiding the raised Venetian, a good idea, not sure if we can do that inexpensively. VOTE A 8Nov 21, 2010 7:32 pm I can't get laundry doors out of my head with this venetian blind option - to me it just screams laundry. I'd like to see it used as main entrance doors - and I mean in the full sense of the prettiest and strongest doors on the house - maybe it would erase the association in my head then But, it would be good to know, in this particular case, if entrance doors into these 'dwellings in question' will have to be nice (like house doors), or are these entrances kind of hidden away (like sometimes with townhouses). Re: Please help me choose.. glazed front entry door.. VOTE A 10Nov 21, 2010 8:12 pm My 2c - for a front door on a residential home - frosted. I'm with Lex - to me it says Laundry Door with the venetians, and if like Joles mentioned you can see the top of it, would bug me no end. Another 2c - if people can't pick the colour of the venetian - might not work with all colour schemes. For example I think of my place - if I was looking for the clear glass/ventetian option, I'd prob want white to tie into the wall colour/trims. Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Please help me choose.. glazed front entry door.. VOTE A 11Nov 21, 2010 8:27 pm I voted frosted on both, only because that's what I chose. I like the effect.
