Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 21, 2010 3:14 pm Hi, I have just have my roof terracotta tiled roof re-bedded and re-pointed, and also had new sarking and battens fitted. As far as I know you cant have the sarking taught (streched tight), so that can lead to a situation where if water gets passed the tiles, there will be puddles formed on/in the sarking? So I am hoping you can help me with my three questions. Q1 Are puddles on sarking normal and do you just let them dry out and go away ? Q2 Is starking over laping from under the tiles a third way into the guttering correct ? Q3 If I tuck the starking back level with the edge of the guttering, will water run between the side of the gutter and the flashing ? Cheers PS I tried to attach a photo 448x336, told me my quota had been reached ?? Re: A question about my roof renovation with new sarking fit 2Nov 21, 2010 4:10 pm I'm no expert but from what I know. Q1: if sarking is done proper there shouldn't be puddle as it should drip down towards the gutter or dry out quick enough. Q2: The idea of sarking is so the any condensation drops into the gutter. Q3: You just need the sarking to have enough length to reach the gutter with a little to spare so the condensation don't drop into your eaves.. Re: A question about my roof renovation with new sarking fit 3Nov 27, 2010 9:54 pm hmmm, Also no expert but I know I had to request "Anti Pond Boarding" with my sarking ... I read it somewhere on the internet so I added it in... I believe the anti pond boarding is like little channels running horizontally on the roof under the tiles to flow into the guttering eventually.. Building Standards; Getting It Right!
