And being slightly pale I reckon shade is also a great idea Re: What do you want in/out of a park?? 26Nov 09, 2010 11:33 am We have a great park near us which our kids love and so do we! It is actually a park within an even bigger park on the lake. The park is fully fenced so you can feel safe knowing your kids cant let them self out There are lots og big shady trees huge play equipment including three levels of ramps, climbing frames, climbing webs, 3 diff sized slippery dips, play shops, and hiddy holes. Three sand areas including a pirate ship. A large bike track with road signs, crossings, parking bays Three picnic /BBQ covered areas. Although it does lack enough seating close to equipment!! Retaining walls and landscaping Re: What do you want in/out of a park?? 27Nov 09, 2010 1:28 pm Hmmm - well I am a big kid at heart - so without having kids I will comment as if I was going to use the palyground I LOVE - mazes and obstacle courses Also - in a park near us - they have equipment around a big path (say 1km round circuit) that doubles as exercise stations - at the 5 or so different stations there are boards with how able bodied people and disabled people can use the equipment for exercise purposes - I used to meet my Personal Trainer down there every second session - i thought it was fantastic Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: What do you want in/out of a park?? 28Nov 09, 2010 2:34 pm mecha-wombat Bek The things that my local park doesn't have but NEEDS: Bins with LIDS (to prevent rubbish flying away all over the park, and birds scattering dirty nappies and chip wrappers!) A tap near the BBQ area More than one BBQ area. have you seen what they will have at my local park Bek(5 blocks from you HAHAHHAHA) I forgot there is no bins but the park is now councils problem so maybe we should harras them to provide one There are bins there MW, but they don't have lids so the rubbish gets everywhere! the BBQ area was filthy the other day and then i realised why.... no tap in sight! How can they expect people to clean up after their bbq if they don't provide a tap???? Re: What do you want in/out of a park?? 30Nov 10, 2010 9:49 am That is such a cool area, I would not be able to get my kids out of a park like that If I was to win Lotto, I would build with a different builder, now to win lotto Re: What do you want in/out of a park?? 31Nov 10, 2010 10:00 am all great suggestions. Please beware of gum trees in parks. many limbs fall, just check after a storm. Some also drop limbs at anytime, even fine still waether. I still see kids play areas in parks with giant gum trees overhanging them. They are great trees, but not close to facilites where people gather. It's a rather large fully fenced (one entrance/exit) wooden adventure playground set up like a fortress. There is so much to do, hide under, climb on, slide down, swing on and kids just love it. There are swings, a separate skate park, grass, toilets, water, bins and a cafe. The only thing that really annoys me about this park is not much shaded seating for adults. It's very close to a bike path too, and the carpark is always busy. The Strand in Townsville has different sections (spaced well from each other) for different ages. The one for the littlies is fenced. Then there are two more for primary aged kids and teens, something for all kids plus they have a bike path, a few half size basketball courts and an oval for spread out ball games. Lots of toilets, bins and doggy clean up stations. RF Build: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=34534 Flooring: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39733 Chat: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53303 I would be wary.
