Browse Forums General Discussion Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 561Jan 09, 2013 12:29 pm Hi all! I joined today specifically to reply to this thread. I've been a lurker for a while, interested in building in Gregory Hills. Such a beautiful area. Thought today would be a good day to join up. I was surprised and disappointed to hear about the coal mining and probably even more surprised that more people haven't replied in regards to this issue. I suppose most have yet to read the latest updates. Just wondering if people think there is a good chance that this mining will be approved and how seriously will our properties be affected, value wise. Kind regards, Aaron Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 562Jan 09, 2013 9:37 pm The information about the proposed Gas Well's have been around for quite a while but I do think Dart West should have disclosed that it was a possibility. Quote: ''We were aware there was a proposal. We took the view it was only a proposal, until it had any status, we were not in a position to accurately inform people because AGL … have been modifying their proposal repeatedly,'' the company's general manager, David Taylor Personally if the above is true then they SHOULD have been informing prospective purchases within the contract. Could have been 2 lines stating that there could be an impact of a AGL proposal, at least then people are informed and can make an informed purchase. At the time of my Land Purchase at Oran Park I was aware of the Project to take place at Spring Farm (my first choice) and that the Gregory Hill's area had been indicated as a possible expansion site, but the only way I found out was after researching CSG at Spring Farm after being told by Cornish Group about it in that area. The CSG stuff stopped me from purchasing in that area Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 563Jan 10, 2013 1:25 pm Thanks for the reply! Yeah it's kinda bad practice on their part. Should always be honest with buyers, but I suppose that's not always how it works. On a different note, is Oran Park at risk of CSG mining? Any blowback from surrounding areas? I have not looked at the houses there, but plan to do so tomorrow Kind regards, Aaron Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 564Jan 10, 2013 7:07 pm From everything I can find it looks to be only the Gregory Hills side of Camden Valley Way that will be impacted. If someone has other info would love to read it 2 Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 565Jan 10, 2013 11:34 pm Thanks so much for the information, really appreciate it. Can I ask where you found the information regarding the CSG mining? I had a look at the Camden council site as I was looking for maps showing where the proposed areas would be, but couldn't find it... Kind regards, Aaron. Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 568Jan 12, 2013 3:33 pm As above, AGL site was my resource. Could be possible to access more info if you went to Camden Council's office Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 569Jan 13, 2013 10:13 pm Hi All, talk about a change of heart, I am about to sign contracts in a week for our first home to be built in G Hills...the thoughts of not and selling the block has been brought up due to the proposed Gas explorations?? hoping this is just a mere proposal.....concerned future resident. Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 570Jan 14, 2013 6:11 am Hi everyone! We purchased our block last April and were never told of this proposal that was created 3 years ago. But I do think it's not going to turn into anything realistic, I don't think Camden or campbelltown council would allow it. Camden council is quite protective over its community, let's hope that plays a part here. But everyone should go on council website and post their objection to the proposal, the website was listed in an earlier post. Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 571Jan 15, 2013 6:02 pm I have recently found this forum and wished I had found it earlier. We bought our land in Gregory Hills early last year and were never told about the AGL's proposal to build the Coal Seam Gas mining. I only found out about it through a friend who was thinking of buying land there and through his own research told us about it. I am really, really angry about this issue and after researching what has happened in the U.S. I am absolutely horrified and worried that the same thing would happen here. Unfortunately our block is near the industrial site where the proposed well is going to be. I am wandering if any one who has purchased in the area knows if it will go ahead? I will be writing to the local MP and ringing council to voice my concerns. I really urge anyone who has bought in that area to do the same. If it does go ahead I really do hope that AGL will do their part to keep all residents, environments, animals and wildlife 'safe'. I am really annoyed and feel that we should have been told about this at the land office before purchasing the land!! Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 572Jan 15, 2013 6:29 pm Bobiestar...I know how you feel we have purchased in Voyager street Gregory Hills. We submitted our letter against CSG via the (DPI) Department of Planning & Infrastructure, I believe the proposed well site is adjacent the main road travelling in to GH where they are developing at present..have you heard any more updates? here is a link that I found inspiring http://www.facebook.com/CsgFreeNorthernRivers?fref=ts Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 573Jan 15, 2013 6:35 pm thehills Bobiestar...I know how you feel we have purchased in Voyager street Gregory Hills. Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 574Jan 15, 2013 6:36 pm I got a letter today about a meeting happening at campbelltown catholic club for public hearing on the 25th of feb.....etc if you wish to voice your opinion to the commission you need to email pac@pac.nsw.gov.au Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 575Jan 15, 2013 7:15 pm Unfortunately the council won't be the ones that can stop it progressing. The state government will be the ones making the decision on allowing it. I would be writting to the local MP and to Barry O'Farrell, the more people that complain the better. 2 Re: [NSW] Gregory Hills - Roll Call! 576Jan 15, 2013 7:31 pm danandLiz thehills Bobiestar...I know how you feel we have purchased in Voyager street Gregory Hills. Barry will be receiving our vote of no confidence. So excited for our street to come to life. Hope your bud goes well. Hope to see you around the street Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11039 Thanks again Simeon for being so elaborate. Appreciate it. Its gives us a very idea. Kind Regards 4 3687 In NSW the maximum deposit for building work is 5% until the builder provides HBCF insurance 1 4830 |
