Council says we need to get rid of storm water so we either have to somehow pump it up 60 metres at 4.5 metres high to the street or try and talk to body corp of units behind to see if they will let us dig a trench along fence line to there storm water pit which is about 5o metres away. can anybody suggest a simple inexpensive way? Thank you Re: stormwater uphill 2Nov 03, 2010 12:34 pm unfortunately you don't really have any other choices than the 2 the council has given you, as if they aren't happy with the solution, they just order you to do it another way. If you were to pump it, you will need a storage tank to hold the water and obviously a pump. You could have a float level in the tank to only pump when it fills to a certain level. You could also use the storm water for your gardens etc.. as you will be collecting it anyway. From the way it sounds, you may have an issue with getting rid of storm water already. Where does the run off from your block currently go? Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance! The good thing is that you know know. 3 3243 Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. Then you'll know. 3 6343 in the stormwater pit or the drain? Those dont look like theyd fit in the drain. Separately, the pits do get stuff in them during the course of the build.
