Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 31, 2010 10:06 pm Hey guys, Given that as an owner builder you are limited too building only 1 house every 3 years, I am currently in a position where there may be an opportunity to build 4-5 townhouses on unoccupied land (over the next 5 years) and such an opportunity tempts me to gain a qualification in building in order to break the 1 every 3 year rule. Is there anyone here that as been in a similar situation or can shed some light as to how this can be achieved? Thus far I have managed 1 project as owner builder over a year ago and got my hands dirty as much as I could. My experience as been positive and defiantly see myself doing more of it... Any feedback would be appreciated! Cheers, Spiro Re: How can I build more then 1 house every 3 years? 2Nov 01, 2010 11:48 am The idea of OB is to build yourself a house, not do a 4 - 5 dwelling development. An OB is required to live in the dwelling, so multiple dwelling developments like you are proposing are beyond the scope of OB. You will either have to register to become a builder or engage the services of a registered builder for what you are proposing. Re: How can I build more then 1 house every 3 years? 3Nov 01, 2010 1:09 pm Yes I know, I am asking what it would take to become registered on a limited level to be able to conduct that kind of work. Given my experience I would be willing to do any course required. Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted.
