My dh and I are first home buyers and we are currently searching for something to buy. We've found an old house that we intend to renovate but it has a stormwater easement down one side of the triangular block (all the way to the bottom of the garden). Can you tell me:
1. Whose responsibility is it to maintain the easement?
2. There's a concrete block half-covering a hole in the garden where the stormwater goes down. It's dangerous for kids. Whose responsibility would it be to make it safe (i.e. put a grate over it or something)?
3. Are we silly for thinking of buying this property? What are the disadvantages for having a stormwater easement on the property?
Sorry if the questions are a bit out there. I'm not sure what to ask! Is there anything else I should know about easements?
