Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 31, 2010 7:06 am Hi, We will be moving out this way in the new year and wanted to know if anyone had any feedback on the reliability, frequency and availability of seating on these train lines? As I would most likely be catching the express wanted to know if these are as choco-blocked as the express trains that I catch at the moment. Thanks in advance. What time train would you be looking to get (both into and out of the city), and what station would you be starting at? I am using Holsworthy station, and the expresses that come through between 7-8am, i get a seat 90% of the time, but they do get packed once you hit Beverly Hills. Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 3Nov 02, 2010 12:11 pm we will be moving to glenfield from rockdale... if i check out the transportinfoline they say that an express is 50mins to wynyard (where I work) would want to get into the city between 8:30 and 9:00 and leave the city at about 5:30 do you always get the express? I live at Prestons so dropped him off every morning. If you are driving to the station there can be limited parking as at 6am is peak hour down there. He said that he got a seat almost every day but the express got really packed. Hope that helps. Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 5Nov 03, 2010 3:36 pm I know that they opened the new car park at glenfield station. Do you know whether there are still issues iwth parking even after the new parking station opened? 6am seems like a very early peak - it means people getting into the office @ 7am!! Lol that is way too early for me Also does anyone know about all the building activity that is going on at the station? What is it for? Are the looking at moving the station soon? I dont know any more than that. IMO the infrustructure in the South West is woeful considering the amount of new residents we have. Good luck! Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 7Nov 03, 2010 6:53 pm To be honest I think it is better than the North West. As we have quite a few friends out there and there is next to big govt infra projects going on up there. At least there is a train line and some decent arterial roads in the SW. I hope I don't offend you by saying that just because you will be living in the outer suburbs, you feel that the only worthwhile train for you to catch is an express. If it works out that way, fine, but 50 min is not a long journey. Where I live, a commute to the city often takes 2 hours, and the last express that gets into the city before 9am leaves my local station at 6:52am. You need to realise that you are better off catching whatever train reaches Wynyard at the best time for you, whether it is an express or not. Since public transport is actually for the public, if you want to be guaranteed a seat then drive, it's as simple as that. Geoff - Decophile. Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 15Nov 09, 2010 9:28 pm no offense taken.. driving won't be an option for me because of traffic, parking and not to mention the stress of having to drive in peak hour. I have done it before and i would much prefer riding on busy train than driving.. the non-express will be about 1h10 or so.. so its not a big difference however as i have never caught the train on this line in peak hour before i just want to understand exactly how busy it was as this station services quite a large area of these outer suburbs and subsequently the best option for me to get to the station (ie. drive, motorbike, bus - each with their pros/cons). i catch a train a the moment which takes me about 35-40 mins and i live 12km away in a unit... so adding another 10-20 mins to that travel time for a bigger place that is 40km is more than acceptable... and your right... not having a seat isn't a priority... getting to work on time is Project History Deposit - 20/4/2010 Land Settled - 20/8/2010 Council - 30/9/2010 Slab - 17/11/2010 Bricks - 28/01/2011 Roof - 5/02/2011 Gyprock - 4/03/2011 Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 16Nov 11, 2010 12:09 pm We have been given a completion estimate time of March next year. Apparently the construction will be finished by mid january but the registration of the property and other legal stuff will take another month or so, we are hoping we will be able to move in by march Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 17Nov 11, 2010 7:33 pm qonyx no offense taken.. I'm glad. Geoff - Decophile. Re: Feedback on East Hills Train line (Campbeltown / Glenfie 18Nov 11, 2010 8:30 pm CJ - well i guess you guys won't be paying interest until you settle which is a good thing unlike us where we have to pay interest on the land til the place is built.... Nice floor plan glad to know that there will be parking available on weekdays as well. Are you planning to join the exec committee for the community?
