Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 12, 2012 10:44 pm We moved into our house a couple of weeks ago and every couple of nights I see one of these spiders. They are a fairly decent size and scare the crap out of me! They are always on the floor, never walls or up high. We have three kids and I'm a little worried as google hasn't been able to help me find an I.D. Also worth noting, is that in the photos the spider is already dead and covered in surface spray. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g464/selina21062310/IMG_2739.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g464/selina21062310/IMG_2737.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Spider I.D please 2Jan 12, 2012 11:06 pm Also, assuming its the same kind of spider, one we sprayed a couple of days ago stood up on its back legs when sprayed. I am constantly finding and killing them (or should I say I see them and scream for hubby to kill them!) Re: Spider I.D please 8Jan 16, 2012 7:52 am It's wolf spider. They are not aggressive (and they are really cute if you observe them some time in the garden). These ones are very shy and will not attack unless provoked or defending. They are also pretty smart. All spiders have venom, but only few have venom strong enough to be dangerous to humans. There have been no reported deaths from the Wolf Spider, and no antivenin is required after a bite. Although personally I would worry for a small kid too. We see them sometimes in our garden, when we find them inside home, we catch it with a container and take it out to the backyard.
