Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 22, 2010 11:46 am I submitted a planning permit 2 weeks ago, currently the online system shows "pending referral response" for my application. Its been that way for almost 2 weeks. Any idea how long a planning permit will take ? Months ? Only need to remove a single tree, and have heaps of "re-vegetation" areas on the plan (its on acreage). Paid a consultant to do the permit application, to avoid any potential issues. Has cost about $10k all up Currently at the tender stage with the house - have a second tender appointment to be scheduled. Don't want to sign any contracts until the permit comes through, in case the council decides they don't like rendered houses, the brick color, or something. If it's just tree removal it should be quicker than that. I'd call them to hurry it along. Re: planning permit wait..... 3Oct 29, 2010 1:21 pm It seems that the person assigned to our permit application is an idiot. They have asked for further information, by mail. (haven't received the letter yet, but OH has spoken to the person) The information they wanted it is already in the comprehensive detailed information pack we gave them as part of the permit application. (cost me $10k to have it all done) I am not inspired with confidence. What did they think all the pretty drawings, aborist reports, site surveys etc were there for???????? Sounds like you have the same town planner we have!! They are a breed of their own. Our 'further information' letter was sent to the wrong builder. That was just one of many whacky adventures! Our amendment (and I stress the word amendment) took 10 months to get approved - and that was without any objections or issues. It was such a painful experience! We worked out that out of that 10 month period at least 2 months was lost due to staff annual leave (which they would always fail to inform us of) ... the rest was just "procedure" according to them. I wish you the very best of luck... Don't stop nagging them!!! We will be regularly hassling this planner - this is just the planning permit, then there is a building permit after that.
