Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 20, 2010 8:22 pm Hi back in April we bought a 5 acre block in Gabbadah. It's in an estate and when we bought it we were told that the property had a bore already sunk and it just needed to be spiked (?) . Well we've progressed to the point where we are ready to get the bore up and running, and we find out that the bore is dry (well moist at the bottom but def no water). We were told it is 60m down to water where we are and were sure that was how deep we were told the bore was. But now we measure it and it's only about 45m deep, so no water. Have spoken to one bore person, who has told me there is nothing that can be done, it can't be deepened, and a whole new bore has to go in at about a cost of $10k. $90/m down and we need to go down 72m As u can understand we are at a bit of a loss as to what to do as, we can't afford the $10k, when we were expecting about 2-5k all up to getthe bore running including pump and electrics etc. i asked the bore guy if it would have collasped, as it would have been sunk maybe 4 yrs ago, he said they don't collapse. Does anyone know anything about bores?? Could there just be a layer of sediment that has rose and formed a hardened layer?? Can a bore be re-drilled to go deeper?? Any advice would be awesome viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43238 building with kerdels in gabbadah, wa block purchased april 2010 signed with builder oct 2010 papers signed jan 2011 prestart done 17/01/2011 Re: bore help needed!! 2Oct 20, 2010 8:36 pm I know of people in our town who had their bore deepened...I'd be talking to other bore contractors... They have a heap of good experience with them. They might be able to offer some good advice for you. Re: bore help needed!! 6Nov 21, 2010 11:30 pm thanks everyone, just for a quick update.... after waiting 4 weeks for a bore guy to turn up to check it out, (he kept promising but neva actually made it) we had a neighbour come around to check it out for us, turns out there is nothing wrong with it all, 15m of water and all good. apparently just something wrong with the skills of my (better) half. he wasn't using a heavy enuff sinker, so god knows what he was measuring to!! so 6 weeks of wasted time where we could have had it set up and running by now, a little grr and a little relief giggle! we are def going to be known as the city slickers who have no clue what they r doing!!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43238 building with kerdels in gabbadah, wa block purchased april 2010 signed with builder oct 2010 papers signed jan 2011 prestart done 17/01/2011 Re: bore help needed!! 7Nov 22, 2010 6:34 am Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: bore help needed!! 8Nov 22, 2010 8:17 am Dont feel bad, similair thing happened to us. Bore was working when we looked at property, when we moved in nothing happening. We finally got the guy out that done all the pump installation and all that was wrong was a trip switch and come on and stopped it working. He put is hand underneath the power board in the bore powerbox, pushed a button and it worked. How embarresing haha. He charged us 50 bucks for his trouble. Money well spent he gave a rundown on how it works etc and a bit of goss about the place while he was there. there should be ss cable so you can pull up bore pump for service 1 3118 Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria.
