Owner Builder TV - Casting Now

Are you an Owner Builder with a great tale to tell? Or know someone who is an Owner Builder with a great yarn? We want to hear your stories!

Freehand are looking for Owner Builders in Sydney to feature in a new television series for the HOW TO Channel.

We’re looking for owner builders at various stages of the building process who are keen to show off their site and willing to share their experiences of owner building – the highs and the lows, the lucky escapes and pitfalls, the blunders and ingenious solutions. We’re looking for unique and interesting stories and want to understand why you chose the owner builder path and if the money you’ve saved (or not) is/has been worth all the effort.

Impart your first hand knowledge and advice on topics such as….licences, insurances, contracts, OH&S, safety, security, building products and materials, tools, hiring trades people, building approvals, design and construction processes, dealing with hazardous materials, disputes, managing finances, managing your site, sustainable building and more!

Whether your just starting out, mid way through or nearing completion, we want to hear from you. Ultimately, we hope your experiences will unscramble the owner builder puzzle as well as teach and inspire others.

You, your partners and your site must be available for filming for one day from late January 2008.

NOTE: An Owner Builder is defined by the NSW Office of Fair Trading as “an Owner Builder is an individual who does builder work and holds a permit for that work. Owner-builder work is any work (including supervision and coordination) involved in the construction of, or alterations, repairs or additions to, a dwelling (which includes a house, terrace, town-house, garage, swimming pool and certain other structures and improvements).”
