Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 09, 2010 4:23 pm I have just had some new owners move in next door. They are in love with their BASS and play it constantly. One night it was actually causing their house walls to vibrate and I went over and asked them to tone it down. However they still have it at bad levels to the point that I can actually feel it vibrating my internal organs. Now with this sort of bass effect even when the sound is lower the BASS reverberates really deeply and can still be felt and heard. It is that sort of angry thrash music too which is really annoying. Seeking any advice that may help resolve this situation Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 2Oct 09, 2010 4:54 pm Hi iDarren, Alex88 replied to a query I had and attached this link. I read through it and also noticed it has some detail about noise regulations that may interest you. http://www.legalanswers.sl.nsw.gov.au/h ... hbours.pdf Cheers, Slim Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 3Oct 09, 2010 9:48 pm We had this problem in our previous home, the guy would get on the booze, the music would get louder (bad Country & Western) the bass was up and all you would hear is the boom, boom, boom then he would pass out so it would still be going in the morning. I feel for you as it is just impossible to block out the noice. We just had to keep knocking on his door to get him to turn it down or we would call the police. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 4Oct 09, 2010 9:49 pm Contact your local estate agent to tell you the name of their property agent, assuming they are renting, then complain , complain, complain and hopefully their lease will not be extended. Its easy to also find out the property owner, assuming they are renting and complain , complain, complain. I feel for you and hope the problem goes away. Heck, it worked for me. Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 5Oct 09, 2010 9:58 pm I feel for you too. My windows and floorboards vibrated for over a year. Best advise I can offer is to call the cops, not the local, but triple zero. nag, nag, nag and nag everyday minute and second until it stops, then repeat the next day. In my case it was a 16yr old kid. The council setup a meeting, even a local cop came, the kid didn't turn up, his parents gave the excuse he's ADD and wouldn't be able to sit through the meeting without being agitated. They also gave the excuse the music (if you can call it that) helped his ADD. The only thing they agreed to was to speak to their son. The noise never really stopped ...until the kid whilst intoxicated drove (HOONED) an unregistered car on his 18th birthday and wiped out two cars in the street ..amazing what a good behavior bond can do once you're classified as an adult. It took a judge to stop the noise ...and cure his ADD. I hope your neighbours get behind you, mine were too scared of this little ratbag to stand up to him. I can't believe you would call 000 for music!! 000 is for EMERGENCIES not for a complaint about someone's music being too loud!! While you are busy calling about music you could be delaying the resources for someone that actually does have an emergency. I know how annoying the base can be - I can hear some from a few houses up and it's damn annoying but call your local cops not 000 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' You see there's a method in the maddness. I was shocked at how the system operates, but that's how it works, at least every call made to 000 is officially recorded word for word. 000 calls are answered immediately, there's no shortage of tele-operators, ...only a shortage of emergency services, it's the ignorant noisy neighbours that are wasting that resource, not the people suffering from the noise. Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 10Oct 10, 2010 10:06 am My current neighbour (diagonal as the crow flies, can't actually see them) has done this from time to time. We've lived here for nearly ten years and "heard" the boys grow up. Over the time I've yelled at them to turn the music down and called the police numerous times when they've had really loud parties. Most times these measures have worked. Actually the neighbour directly behind us built decking out the back of his place a few years back. He liked to sit and watch tv outside, which is really noisy throughout the whole neighbourhood. He doesn't do it so often now after I used to yell, asking for the tv to be turned down! I gave an explanation to why I called 000. Whose advise should I take, yours or the police? Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 14Oct 10, 2010 12:23 pm I find it very hard to believe the police would advise you to ring 000 for a non-emergency In SA, there was a long running campaign in newspapers etc, with large ads, advising people NOT to call 000 for non emergencies- a couple of examples shown were tools stolen from a tool shed and a vandalised letter box, I think loud music would be in this category too. Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 15Oct 10, 2010 7:50 pm "What is the Emergency Call Service number Triple Zero (000) and when should I call it? The Emergency Call Service (Triple Zero) is an operator-assisted service that connects you to the relevant emergency service organisation (police, fire or ambulance). You should call the Emergency Call Service in a life or property threatening time-critical situation. If a situation is not time critical but requires the attention of an emergency services organisation, you should obtain the number of your local Emergency Service Organisation from the phone book or by calling directory assistance." http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD..PC/pc=PC_1695 As a hotel employee, I've been instructed to call the station number directly, NOT 000 if I have a noise complaint. I only use 000 if it's an actual emergency. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4! Regardless of who said what, I think as adults we should all excercise a little common sense - Triple Zero (000) is for emergencies. Here's an interesting article which highlights the pressure put on this vital service by callers with less than urgent enquires: http://www.news.com.au/national/bottom- ... 5932827295 Re: Seeking advice on NOISY neighbours 18Oct 10, 2010 8:31 pm TheOK Helyn I find it very hard to believe the police would advise you to ring 000 for a non-emergency In SA, there was a long running campaign in newspapers etc, with large ads, advising people NOT to call 000 for non emergencies- a couple of examples shown were tools stolen from a tool shed and a vandalised letter box, I think loud music would be in this category too.
