Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 29, 2010 5:31 pm Hi We are planning to buy a house in Glenfield, in the newly bilt Mirvac estate. We have received mixed reviews about Glenfield as a suburb. I would love to hear people's opinions in re to buying first home in glenfield. Also their experience with Mirvac. If anyone knows how long it takes in peak hour traffic to drive to homebush from Glenfield, that will be great to know. Re: Buying a Mirvac built townhouse in glenfield NSW 2Oct 20, 2010 8:47 pm To be honest I think you could separate Glenfield and Panorama/Vista. As the train line acts as a clear line of separation between the old glenfield and the new mrivac estate. I think you would be better comparing it to Prestons or Casula than directly with Glenfield as property prices in the mirvac estate are a good +100k over what you would pay in Glenfield. We are building there and like the look of the planned mirvac estates. As a hint take a drive to the older Mirvac estates in Prestons and Stanhope Gardens. This will give you a feel for what the estate in general will look like after more than a couple of years. You will be pleasantly surprised - in comparison to the other similar aged estates. (one of the major benefits of the planned estates) The other + is that it is perhaps one of the only places in Sydney with a new estate that is (almost ~2km) walking distance to a reasonably fast train to the city (50mins to Wynyard). IMO this was the clincher for us as we live in the St George area now and for the 600k we are spending on our house we would get a tiny 10 year old, 3br townhouse. We live in Hurstville as well and would have ideally wanted to buy in the St. George area but as first home buyers could not afford anything more than an old 2 BR unit in that area. Hence our decision to buy in Glenfield. Hopefully the new secure car park near Glenfield station and the new proposed road from the Mirvac estate to the train station( which will make it 10 min walking to the station) will add to the property value. Good Luck wih your build....... Re: Buying a Mirvac built townhouse in glenfield NSW 4Oct 27, 2010 9:41 pm I found this website which is the host for community activities... if you have kids i think it should be ideal from what i see... it looks as though you could actually let your kids roam around without having to ghost them in the estate will start a thread shortly on our build... pretty excited bout it....
