Stockland just emailed me a brochure the other day, the Isis by Simonds in Mernda Villlages on a 336sqm block for $314k (terms and conditions apply). Once you get a bit closer, like Mill Park, you might get older houses for that much but I don't think you could build anything so cheap. If only they'd widen Thompsons Rd to 4 lanes we'd be laughin!! On topic, I would personally prefer to be further from the city if something had to give. Much better quality of life IMO I agree.... plenty of my customers that used to live in city have moved further out i.e: Gisborne/Macedon/Riddells Creek. I would think it's easier to live on a single income if you've living further out and also the air is sooooooooooooo much fresher! In saying that though, we chose our estate as it was close to our friends and family. My parents are a 20min drive away, DP's parents are 15mins away. Won't matter too much now, but once we have children it will be easier when leaving them with our parents. btherl $350k will get you a house and land package in the Mernda area.
