Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 07, 2010 8:47 am Last night I went past my build only to find the place fully locked up (first time I couldn't get in to look around). Peaking through the windows I noticed that on the studs about where the noggins come across there appears to be strips (approximately 500mm long 25mm wide and 2mm thick) of masonite. Hopefully I can get a photo of these to show. Has anyone seen these before and know what they are? My only thoughts are that the builder has noticed that the studs are bowed and that they need to add these packers to straighten them out before the plaster goes in. Any other ideas? Any other ideas? That is correct. Part of the lock up work is to straighten the walls, whether it be shaving the studs down, or adding masonite packers. I did a lot of googling, forum searching etc. and nothing made it clear. I will still try to add a photo when I get a chance. Also if I can ever get back inside I'll have to try to do a quick check with a spirit level and a straight edge. This preparation ensures that you ahve smoother walls with no unsightly bows. Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4074 Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement. We have an old 50's house with masonite everywhere and nails popping out, warping, rusted etc.… 0 4513 Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24833 |
