Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 06, 2010 5:19 pm I just received our Quaterly Water bill and we have been hit with a $62.35 "Adjustment". I rang to figure out what the go was and I was told that they "forgot" to charge us for Park Charge for 2009 and therefore "Manually Adjusted" this bill. Has anyone come accross this? Does anyone know what the rules are regarding charges over 12 months old? I know that AGL has a policy that if you receive a bill 9 months after it was due (due to billing error) then you are not required to pay it. Re: City West Water Manual Adjustment 2Sep 06, 2010 6:04 pm I'd query it, according to this: http://www.ewov.com.au/GotaProblem/Ques ... eriod.aspx they can't backbill you past 12 months, but I'm not sure if that is for water usage or other charges. Maybe contact the Ombudsman? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4! Re: City West Water Manual Adjustment 3Sep 07, 2010 9:28 am Thanks Alex88! Ok, so I called the ombudsman regarding this "adjustment". The rules that apply are codes that the utility companies abide to. The rules here is found under section 6.2 (a) of the Energy Retail Code: if the undercharging resulted from a failure of the retailer’s billing systems, the retailer may recover no more than the amount undercharged in the 9 months prior to the date on which the retailer notifies the customer that undercharging has occurred; So, I was advised to lodged a complaint with the EWOV of which I should get either a phone call from a senior rep from City West Water or (if uncontactable) a letter within 7 days. I guess I am just pissy that they double charged me in one month, did not explain themselves on the bill, when I rang up they were oblivious to it and their own Energy Retail Code and just told me to pay it! Re: City West Water Manual Adjustment 4Sep 07, 2010 11:54 am I received a call from City west Water. The rep mentioned that it was in their rights to charge the parks fee because it was for 2009/2010 of which you pay the charge half way through the year. So on tenchincality 9 months hasn't past, but they waved the charge anyway.
