Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 05, 2010 10:33 am Hi just wondering if anybody could please tell me if they have upgraded to a solar hot water system through their builder? If so how much please did you pay for the upgrade or system both before and after any state government rebates and the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECS). I am currently having a dispute with my builder about the price we paid and whether it includes the state govt rebates and RECS or not and the builder cannot provide any proof they have applied the discounts. I am in WA so in particular any people in WA! many thanks! Re: Solar Hot Water Rebates/RECS 2Sep 06, 2010 9:13 am Did you replace an electric system with the solar hot water system? The rebates apply only for the replacement of electric systems. We've been advised we'll receive no rebates on a solar hot water system as we are building new. Below is the link to the federal government site for rebates http://www.climatechange.gov.au/governm ... ligibility Regarding the REC's ... I've found this site here where you can put in your postcode and what sort of system you are installing to see if you are entitled to any REC/Rebates (including new builds). http://www.hotwaterrebate.com.au/ ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Solar Hot Water Rebates/RECS 3Sep 06, 2010 9:41 am No it is not replacing an electric system - it is in a new house. I know we won't get the Federal Gov't rebates but our WA state government has a $500 rebate we would be entitled to. Also talking about the RECS - I know how much we should get - the debate with the builder is over whether the price they charged us includes the RECS or not. Re: Solar Hot Water Rebates/RECS 6Sep 06, 2010 2:34 pm Not on a new house but our Edwards system cost $4000 after they deducted about $1100 worth of recs, we didnt get any rebates. It's a two panel system. What you would need to do I think is find out what the system is worth before rebates and recs because there are different types (some have gas, some have electric boost), different sizes, and different sized tanks and there are probably differences in prices between the different brands too so if you have the specific details of the solar unit you are getting you should be able to price it up through the company that makes/sells them. the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 12263 I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black.
