What do you mean by taking out by signing variations ? Have they told you what is the delay for ? You can def get some valuable advice here. Can you also add your time line like when you signed the contracts, the colour appointments....this will help in getting the correct advice in here
I have seen that usually after colour appointments it can take upto 2 months to get to the final engg drawings and then hopefully to the slab stage.
Sorry not a lot of valued advice from my end but hope to bump ur thread up

we made our first deposit to the sales person on 11 th jan 2010. we signed the contract on 5th march 2010. we had our colour selection on 16 th march. they sent what they called working drawings on 3rd april which we signed and sent them back. then they set for developers approval which was approved on 23/06/2010. then for building permit which was issued to us on 6/07/2010. then they took nearly 1 month to sent the final drawings. ie on 5th august 2010. so we signed 2 set of working drawings. in betwwen they were senting the variations we already signed once to make us believe that they are working on our home. on the contract it says builder should give a start date and if not possible 14 days after getting the building permit. At the beginning with the sales person, we said we need to get a home by dec 2010 and they said you will be getting that .. only after that we thought of signing with burbank.
