We have been with Internode for abut half a year, great value broadband plans & no tech issues at all, great service too, much better than Optus who we were with previously.

Check out this website for more providers than you can poke your finger at, the forums there may provide more specific advice if you need it as well...

Go with a wireless option then you won't have to battle with Telstra trying to get broadband in Berwick. Pair Gain and no plan to upgrade is what we keep getting told.

Another vote here for Internode.

But DO NOT go with Telstra or Optus. They have by far the worst deals and service.

Phoenix,
1. You can relocate your broadband when you move. I think Optus cable changes about $60.00 to relocate. They have the $70.00 phone & broadband bundle deal which is pretty good.

2. Three offers wireless broadband modem now. From my memory they charge $29.00 for 1G. You get the modem for free on 24 month contract and $10.00 on 12 month contract.

Whoever you choose make sure they provide their service on both locations so that you won’t have trouble after you move.

Urrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh....
Thought i had it arranged. Spoke with i-Primus and made an online application, expecting to get a call back to review my application within 2-3 days. Day 6 and no call, so i call them only to be told they only support ADSL on Telstra lines, plus the phone is not in our name so they won't proceed.....

Why don't they say so in the beginning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a waste of a week.

SO
now looking at PCMCIA cards or USB modems to use with a wireless network so that i can take it with me when we move.... maybe i-burst or something where i don't have to connect on a plan.

eBay is great, so hopefully will pick one up cheap as i can't be bothered paying $250-$300 for a wireless card- retail :oops:

Thanks Matt, it will work at mum and dad's place but 3 don't have coverage in Berwick for Broadband at all, so a 24 mth contract would be out of the question. :twisted:

See, this is my situation.... I cannot lock into a contract as i am not sure what will be available in the new place. No-one recognises that area/street yet!!!! :evil:

I am watching lots of items of eBay so hopefully will have a modem soon and then ca get something with no contract.

man this dial up is giving me the @%*$'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have recently signed up for 12 months with "3". Gives 1mb (or is it GB?) for $34/month.

I just plug it into my laptop and go on line where ever I am. Also has the cable for a desk top. What I liked is that I didn't have to pay for the hardware as it's all part of the rental.

If I go over my monthly limit my next statement clearly identifies the additional cost. This cost is automatically debited from my visa.

They do have cheaper options such as going on a 24 month plan. And higer plans for around $50/mth for 2GB. If you are a 3 client, it is discounted down by 50%.

Finally......... missed out on a wireless modem on eBay item this afternoon but won one this evening. I hope soon to be the proud new owner of an iBurst PCMCIA modem which i'll probably hook up with chilli internet initially on their $49.95 deal which gives me 1Mb/345k with 4GB/mth and $129 for no contract connection.

Absoluteley wrapt, missed out on a few weeks of chatting so need to catch up...

Finally......... missed out on a wireless modem on eBay item this afternoon but won one this evening.

Really hope that wireless modem works out for you. It'd be just awful if it had technical glitches.. or missing drivers.. and is hard to set up.. or has poor connection strength.

And heaven forbid if it simply got lost in the mail. We wouldn't want that. :wink:
