Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Home SHow 2Aug 21, 2010 4:51 am Yeah - I was also disappointed at the last few we went to at Jeff's Shed. I won't be going to any more. It's basically this - you pay like $15-$20 (one we paid, another was free thanks to homeone!) to walk around a bunch of stalls to be annoyed by salespeople... That's it. Totally stupid. Most of the 'shows' with a home or garden related theme have all the same stuff too. Bleh. Stuff that. Re: Home SHow 3Aug 21, 2010 11:22 am Went last night - waste of time. The Build-Expo show was much better - for us anyway given we are planning on building soon & wanted to see actual innovative techniques (like ICF, etc). It really seemed liked a mish-mash of disparate products - those "amazing" mops, chamois & similar useluess gadgets were being spruiked all over the place. There was a huge stand from Shenzen selling gaudy Chinese imports - really strange stand. Also that ridiculous power-band thing all the footballers have been conned (paid) into using - I had to restrain myself from getting into an argument with those scam artists. Plus the usual assortment of solar panels, hydronic heating (at least that was interesting), double glazing, beds & outdoor landscaping. The concrete water-tanks doubling as retaining walls with a garden bed on top was a neat product. And to top it off we bought 3 magazines & forgot to collect them at the end of the night! I'm going tomorrow and looking forward to it, imo an important factor to enjoying the home show is to seek out specific topics that you're interested in. At the last MHS I attended I was interested in fingerprint entry systems, C-bus, insulation and Window double glazing, this time it's hydronic heating, LED lighting, kitchen and bathroom trends and umm... winning the shed from ShedCraft . We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
