Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 20, 2010 2:11 pm Hi all, Quick question regarding which dining table i should get. I really want bench style seating as the area the table will go is quite small and i like both of these tables however they are very different. Both cost the same. 1. ikea table and chairs, i love the colour of this one, and the fact that its extendable if we need to sit more people, the downside is that its the wood with the like laminate stuff on it. I think that this one looks more modern though and will probably match more. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 2. This one is from fantastic furniture, and again i really like this one however im not sure it will match as well. The upside to this one is that its actually real wood. Ideally i would like a darker stained wood but im not having alot of luck finding them anywhere. Thanks, v Re: Which dining table with bench seating - pics attached 2Aug 20, 2010 2:21 pm Hi there! Personally I love the first one as I just think it looks really 2010. But they are both lovely. I am also looking for a dark choc stained dining table highly lacquered! But can't find one 1st Tender - 20 March 2010 Slab - 14 August 2010 Frames - 31 August 2010 Roof - 11 September 2010 Bricks finished - 2 October 2010 Lock up - 15 October 2010 Keys - 10 December 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The second one is much better and imo will not date as quickly as the first one. But it looks a little cheap. i'm not a fan of anything at fantastic furniture. Cheap stuff for a reason. Try somewhere like Jeffs Shed. That is one of my favourite places to shop. I'm a sucker for all of the exotic asian, indian, bali kinda stuff. I remember seeing quite a few tables and benches that your after. http://www.jeffsshed.com.au - their store has heaps of stuff. Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Which dining table with bench seating - pics attached 4Aug 20, 2010 3:17 pm I've seen the Ikea one in the flesh and it's pretty pricey for what it is! But saying that, I really love the bench style and I even love when they match dark brown with white (ie. brown table white chairs or vice versa). That is what I wanted but ended up getting a good deal on a white table with white chairs with silver legs. I didn't end up going the bench style Re: Which dining table with bench seating - pics attached 6Aug 20, 2010 4:09 pm just bear in mind that if No 1 is a laminate, the corners & edges will chip when you constantly push the benches in & out, showing the substrate underneath . That Asian shop looks great but i am in adealaide! Judie- Thanks i will try those stores as well. Maybe ill have to stick with my old table for a while till i find the perfect one, im off to ikea today to see what else they have. You will occasionally see solid hardwood ones for a similar price or cheaper. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Which dining table with bench seating - pics attached 11Aug 21, 2010 2:25 pm I definitely think that the first one looks much better & i personally wouldn't buy from Fantastic unless i really didn't intend to keep it for long. That said, i would probably keep an eye out on ebay etc & try to be patient rather than just getting what seems to be available at the time. You want a dining setting to last, so it's worth waiting for exactly what you want.
