Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 15, 2010 5:05 pm hi everyone, I have just started looking into building a house and have spoken to a few builders. I have never done this before and don't really know anyone who has so I'm really not sure what a reasonable price to pay is. One builder has given me a quote for $179,000 for the house (not including the block of land). Its a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house and this is a complete package (the only thing not included is the back landscaping). I know that there is a great deal of variation in price depending on the builder and what is included but can anyone tell me if this sounds within a reasonable price range? thanks heaps. How big is the actual house? Our base price was quite alot less, being 21sq (without outdoor areas) and four bedrooms. I think you probably need to look at the overall quality of the build and are there luxury inclusions for that price that other builders don't include. I'm sure someone else will be along shortly to offer a word of advice Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I mean, a ginger kid with two friends? Sincerely, Anonymous Re: price of construction 3Aug 15, 2010 6:28 pm thanks for your reply - sorry I should have said the house size - its 22sq. i have just had another look at the documentation and the total price is actually $191,014, which is broken down as follows: - $155,750 base price $13,807 site works $21,457 upgrades. I think I will keep shopping around before I make any decisions. Thanks again. Re: price of construction 4Aug 15, 2010 8:27 pm Our base price was around that too, but then we added our flooring, air conditioning, and little things that werent included, like tiled shower bases and moved internal walls, replaced a window with a sliding door and a whole list of other little bits and pieces that all add up. Do you like the house and happy with the inclusions? Perhaps shop around and see what other builder are offering for that price and what extras you need to add on as well. It's a big decision. Good luck and would love to hear how you go Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I mean, a ginger kid with two friends?
