It does the job pretty well, I do prefer the Dyson that my parents have (and for some reason won't allow me to steal! ) and will upgrade to one of those in the future, but I like it so far viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4! Re: need a new vacuum - recommendations please!! 3Aug 14, 2010 3:11 pm I've got a Hoover something or other, like Alex's, nothing fancy, but does the job. I would love a Dyson, but I couldn't justify the cost really Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I mean, a ginger kid with two friends? If you can do with it being bagged rather than bagless, the nilfisk range is pretty good and a reasonable one can be had for less than $300 (local GG have them btw down in frankston if you want to have a look, they also have dyson so you can compare). My parents have had the nilfisk for a couple of years now and i'd say its 95% as good as the dyson at actually cleaning. The only real difference is that it has less tools and attachments and requires bags. I recently bought at Aldi a industrial shopvac fat and ugly wet and dry and it is amazing it only cost me $89 which is worth every penny. Of course once they gone they gone and relatively quickly on specials. I recommend shopvacs especially if you have pets you'll never go back to another one. Re: need a new vacuum - recommendations please!! 7Aug 14, 2010 8:31 pm Hi Caz We recently borrowed my father inlaws Hoover Lark vacuum cleaner and found it to be far better than our Nilfisk - it was particularly good (no excellent) for picking up our dog hair. I was that impressed that I searched stores for them and surprising managed to purchase one at Big W at Karingal Hub, which is not far from you. It is a baggless cyclonic vacuum and cost $179. I hope you will find one that you're happy with as well Reno_girl Re: need a new vacuum - recommendations please!! 8Aug 14, 2010 8:50 pm I have a dyson and love it, but others here have recommended the miele dog and cat vaccuum as an alternative? But seriously, the dyson sucks up crap like you wouldn't believe, IMO worth the extra $. Re: need a new vacuum - recommendations please!! 9Aug 14, 2010 9:00 pm Hi, Harris Scarfe currently have 15 - 30% off all irons and vacuum cleaners at the moment. May be worth checking out. They have a Dyson that is supposedly reduced by $130 to $499 at the moment, but not sure how this price compares as it is not something I am researching at the moment. (He cleans a lot of homes and gets to try them all he said). Re: need a new vacuum - recommendations please!! 13Aug 15, 2010 5:21 pm We've got a Vax, it's pretty good. Re: need a new vacuum - recommendations please!! 14Aug 15, 2010 5:50 pm Hi, I just did a search on the Choice website, and they reviewed Low Cost Vacuum cleaners (under $300) in June 2010. The Miele S2110 came out best, and they say it is only available at retrovision stores. Positives were best at picking up dirt from carpet, excellent for removing pet hair, lightweight, good reach from powerpoint and onboard storage for all tools. Bad points were no telescopic wand.
