Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 11, 2010 8:00 pm I am installing bi fold doors in my shed, i measured the gap between the bottom wooden frame support and the top and thought I had enough space to put the support beam on the top. The doors have just arrived and have just realised the doors would only fit the space now and thats not allowing for the beam to be put in. Does anyone know if I can remove the bottom wooden frame thats already there and place the bottom runner there for the doors instead as this would probably allow enough space then for the support beam on top????? Re: PLEASE HELP :) 2Aug 11, 2010 8:19 pm Looking at your other post, you are knocking a hole in a wall. I assume the timber frame is the wall frame, and the timber you mention is the bottom plate, resting on a slab (?). It's normal for doors NOT to sit on the bottom plate, so if that is the timber you talk about, yes, you can remove it. Just make sure the studs are supported at the floor. Does that make sense?? I think once that part is gone I can fit the support on top? Ed your a star Also Ed what would be the minimum width of the top support you think I can use for the top incase im tight for space?? the shed is 6m long, doors im installing are 3m long? Yes, you can remove it. We use 100mm x 100mm as a lintel in our showroom and that works fine. It's the height that is important. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7079 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
