telstra dug our trench, we then arranged the connection with primus. Telstra does the connection and it was charged to our primus account this is seperate to the trench which was organised with the builder.

It is my understanding that you can get Telstra to do all the work and go with Optus once its connected however I believe it is more costly.
I do remember seeing the prices for cancelling earlier than their term. I think it was $399 instead of $299 if you stay with them. I have had a quick look on their website but i cant find it at the moment. Hopefully this pdf will be helpful for you.
