Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 02, 2010 9:31 pm Hi, I have decided to renovate my weatherboard home. The house is on stumps but access is crawling on your tummy! Next on my list - stormwater connection and water tank/s. At the moment all my downpipes just end above the ground. They are not connected to anything! I have a driveway (concrete) down one side where there are 2 downpipes, then the rest are around the house over garden beds or a crushed rock path (other side of house). My soil is sandy, block flat, and I have no idea where (if at all!) my storm water connection is. My house was built in the 1950s. Council has just informed me that they do not know where my storm water connection point is. Houses built prior to 1970 they have no records for. They have told me to engage a plumber to 'search' for it. My block is 1/4 acre!!! Do I have any other options?? Quotes from plumbers to just connect storm water are around $5000. PLUS the cost to find the connection point!! If it can be found! What are others thoughts on: *Installing a large 3-4000L tank that will collect water from two downpipes and is connected to my toilet. An overflow hose will be fit also, and that runs out 5-6m from house into garden/grass. *Possibly another 2-3000L tank on other side of house to collect water from two downpipes. *Can I have pits (I have seen them at Bunnings) installed under other downpipes? Or diverters connected to a hose and then the hose runs 5-6 metres away from house into garden. Would appreciate any insights. Thank you! Re: Major Stormwater connection dramas.
